RESEARCH

[Fortis Hospital, Kolkata] This study was done to find the prevalence of suicidal ideation among the 1371 T2DM patients attending diabetes clinics in tertiary hospitals in Kolkata, India. This was presented at the American Diabetes Association meeting in San Diego in June 2016

[Fortis Hospital, Peerless Hospital, Kolkata] This involved interview of 876 patients attending Diabetes clinic in an tertiary clinic setting to find the factors which prevent patients from exercising. This study was presented in the International Diabetes Federation conference in Vancouver, Canada in Dec 2015

[Fortis Hospital, Kolkata India] 2014Efficacy and safety of Simaglutide once weekly versus insulin Glargine once daily as add on to Metformin with or without sulphonylurea in insulin-naive subjects with type 2 diabetes as part of a multicentre international trial

[Fortis Hospital, Kolkata, 2012] The aim of the International Diabetes Management Practices Study (IDMPS) was to collect data in a standardized manner that will reflect current practices in the management of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus, and the improvement over time in these practices.

[City Hospital, Birmingham, 2005-2006] The aim was to determine the prevalence of diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance in patients admitted with myocardial infarction, assessing the major cardiac event rate in these groups and evaluating the usefulness of oral glucose tolerance testing in such patients.

[University Hospital Birmingham, 2006] Through the Wellcome Trust Clinical Research I have been involved in a multi-centre double-blind, proof of concept trial of use of rimonabant on the amount and the activity of visceral fat in abdominally obese patients with metabolic syndrome.

[M.G.M.Medical College, Indore, India, 1995] My main aim was to evaluate the wide clinical presentation, causative organisms, effect of co-morbid conditions and assess the prognostic factors. Geriatric Medicine as a speciality is yet to establish itself in India and hence there were very few studies in the elderly in India.
