IDEA celebrated World Diabetes Day(November,14) by organising a health camp on 17th November, 2019 ,which was a Sunday, in a village (Sahararpur) in South 24 paragana in collaboration with CSR, Neotia Ambuja group involving a local NGO (Punnya Vivekananda Seva Sangha) who provided the venue and manpower.
236 people(adults of all age group) attended the camp.IDEA Scientific members examined them, prescribed and dispensed medicine( all free of cost)after their BP,BMI and random blood sugar were checked by a group of trained nurses.IDEA Executive members (Renowned Endocrinologists and Diabetologists )attended the camp and delivered health talks along with trained Diabetes Educators and a Dietitian. All medical facilities were contributed by IDEA and this was hugely appreciated by the local people.
During the camp, out of 236 attendees,35 were found to have BP >140/90, 37 had random blood sugar >200mg% and 16 previously unaware individuals were incidentally detected diabetes,with the youngest age being 23 years with no family history of diabetes.All of them received referral specialists’ services (IDEA Executives). IDEA provided a gift pack containing a variety of dry food ,an apple and a tooth brush to each one of the attendees.Thirty volunteers and sixty children beneficiaries belonging to the local NGO received t-shirts from IDEA.
Closing-in function was very cordially arranged by the local NGO who organised devotional songs,sung by local children and finally all the participants of IDEA were given gift packs containing simple but nice handicrafts(all made by those children) and a small photograph of the holy trio.
Everyone enjoyed the day to his/her heart’s content.
